March 2020 – Travel Expenses

This month started great and ended with a huge blow. Coronavirus in Australia was worsening, and travelers were being asked to "go home" Although our costs for March are not unusual, the pandemic did affect our spending. Early in the month when things were normal, we were enjoying Southern West Australia, and spent more than usual on some amazing tours, by mid month all tourist attractions were closed, so our monthly spend in this category came to an abrupt hault. By around March 20, Government guidelines were for travelers to "return home" We were almost 5000km from home so, for a few days, we stayed where we were while we made our decision. It was also my birthday at this time, so I wanted to try and enjoy what little time we had left in Western Australia and needed time to buy enough suppies to get from WA to NSW without stopping. Needless to say, grocery expenses are higher than usual this month. By the late March we had turned around to go back to NSW. Huge fuel and travel distances were ahead of us once again. March figures reflect this slightly, but our few days of travel in April are primarily fuel costs, as all we did was drive!

In summary, our Australian travels have been rudely interrupted by Coronavirus, so it looks like we will be home for many months. Keep following our page though, as we have lots of inspiration for you when we are all able to travel again. …. Stay Safe
